I don't know about you, but I am super excited for 2016. And it is not just because these horror movies are due for release. Okay.. yes it is! So what awesome horror movies does 2016 have in store for us? Let's take a look... 1) The Forest: Which is set in the Aokigahara forest at the base of Mt. Fuji, tells the story of a young American woman who goes in search of her twin sister, who has mysteriously disappeared. Despite everyone’s warnings to “stay on the path,” Sara enters the forest determined to discover the truth about her sister’s fate, only to be confronted by the angry and tormented souls of the dead who prey on anyone who wanders into the forest. When is it due out? Jan 8th. 2) The Boy: The script, written by Stacey Menear, centers on a nanny (Lauren Cohan - The Walking Dead) who is tasked with overseeing a lifelike doll by a bizarre couple who treat it as a real child. The couple use the doll as way to cope with the death of their young son, but the nanny becomes increasingly convinced that it is alive. When is it due out? January 22nd. 3) The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Project The plot is currently unknown unfortunately, but if the first one is anything to go by, it will be fantastic! When is it due out? June 10th. 4) Amytville: The Awakening A single mother moves her three children into the haunted house not knowing of the house's bloody history. When is it due out? April 15th. 5) The Ring 3: Paramount Pictures is developing a third installment in the 'The Ring' franchise. This one will be titled 'Ring 3D.' All we know is the third installment will be catered to a teen audience. Other than that, the studios are keeping everything under wraps for now. But the fact that it is happening, is reason enough to be eager for 2016 to get here! When is it due out? April 1st. 6) Leatherface: Now this is one I know all the horror fans out there are super excited about. Leatherface is one of the few true, timeless icons of horror. And in this movie we are delving into the killer's youth. This should be interesting... When is it due out? All we know is 2016 at this point. 7) Silent Retreat: Six members of a media company go on a weekend business retreat at an isolated lodge in the woods. When one of the members goes missing, they discover that the lodge was formerly a private mental institution that had been shut down after allegations of devious misconduct. One by one, they fall victim to the dark secrets buried at the lodge. When is it due out? January 12th. 8) 31: 31 tells the story of five carnies in 1976 kidnapped on the morning of Halloween and held hostage in a remote industrial Hell. While trapped, they are forced to play a violent game called 31. The mission is to survive 12 hours against an endless gang of grease-painted maniacs. When is it due out? January 23rd. 9) Cell: When a mysterious cell phone signal causes apocalyptic chaos, an artist is determined to reunite with his young son in New England. Oh, and John Cusack is starring! When is it due out? All we know is 2016. 10) Visions: Leaving her hectic city lifestyle behind, young mother-to-be Eveleigh joins her husband David at their beautiful new vineyard home only to be plagued by terrifying noises and visions of a sinister hooded figure. No one else hears or sees these hallucinations, not even David, who grows increasingly worried about his wife's well-being. Desperate to prove her sanity, Eveleigh hunts down locals who reveal the haunted history of the vineyard in which she now resides. But when the pieces come together, the answer is far different – and more dangerous to her and her baby – than she ever imagined. Sorry, but this sounds awesome! Isla Fisher stars. March. 11) The Purge: Election Year Two years after choosing not to kill the man who killed his son, former police sergeant Barnes has become head of security for Senator Charlene Roan, the front runner in the next Presidential election due to her vow to eliminate the Purge.
